Connectedness is more than just being surrounded by
people. It also considers the value of deep
relationships and being surrounded by things that
have meaning to us, connecting ourselves to our
history and our future. This may include a connection
to nature, a personalised environment filled with
familiar items of meaning; and support from those
who value our unique history and who use this
personal information to assist to connect our past to
our present and future.
People who are diagnosed with dementia at any age
face similar symptoms; but for people diagnosed
under age 65, the changes to their lives as a result of
this diagnosis may be significant.
