taking the time to allow for adjustments in
processing speed
……..all can have a significant impact on the ability to
learn when living with dementia.
Minimising “doing for” and instead “doing with”, to
support the gaps rather than taking over, can also
have a big effect in assisting people to maintain their
skills and preventing premature decline in abilities.
Exercise and increasing mobility has also been shown
to promote wellbeing for those living with dementia
[10].
Pushing boundaries / Risk / Trying something new
Living life is a risky business and as adults, we are all
taking risks every day. Some are small and involve
minor consequences for bad choices; some are much
larger and have disastrous consequences! But taking
risks and pushing boundaries is how we grow and
develop.
